Getting to Avis from the airport was very easy. Just follow the purple signs to the shuttle area, and the shuttle takes you directly to the rental facility. Once there, you get off, take the elevator up, and walk across the top deck to the Avis counter — pretty straightforward overall. There was only one line with three employees working, but it moved quicker than I expected. We were third in line and didn’t wait long at all. The gal who helped us was nice, friendly, and efficient. She clearly explained where to go, which level, and which slot our car would be in. The only small hiccup was that she told us the car would be white, but when we got to the spot it was black which confused us for a minute. We double-checked the license plate to make sure, and an attendant confirmed we were good to go. Not a big deal, just a little moment of uncertainty. The car itself was super clean and felt basically brand new. The only odd thing was trash under the back seat, which made me wonder if it had been fully detailed between customers but overall it was in great condition. All in all, it was a smooth and positive rental experience.

Disappointing experience at LAX with AVIS – Miscommunication, additional insurances and unjustified fuel charges: ​Our rental experience at the LAX airport station of AVIS started on a difficult note. We arrived late at night with our young child and were hoping for a smooth process. We have had one with getting a free upgrade, but the upgrade was accompanied with extra insurance packages that we didn't want, and which has not been communicated. ​Unfortunately, the issues continued with the return of the vehicle. We returned the car with a full tank. The staff member on-site explicitly confirmed during the drop-off that everything was in order and the tank was full. Despite this verbal confirmation, we were later charged a significant amount for fuel in addition to the added insurances. At the end we paid more than double. ​Even though I provided my credit card statements as proof of the gas station transaction, Avis refuses to accept it and insists on a receipt or picture of the full tank. This has been communicated via the rental platform we booked AVIS at home. It is very disappointing that the confirmation we received in person was not honored and that the reclamation process is so inflexible. I hope the management can look into this and provide a fair solution as we have chosen AVIS on the rental platform due to its customer oriented and excellent reputation.

Overall great experience! Initial pickup was long as the reserved vehicle was not available and/or ready. After a red eye, another 1hr. wait was extra tiring. Decided to pickup whichever vehicle was ready and return in the morning to swap it out. Next day swap was smooth and easy with great customer service (at LAX location). In addition, we dropped our earbuds in the vehicle upon return. The online claim for lost & found was easy enough. A few weeks later it was found and shipped to us (+shipping fees). Thank you Avis!

Honestly, this was the most pleasant rental experience I've had in a very long time. Every employee I interacted with was helpful, friendly, smiling and engaging. After a long, lousy flight - it was very welcome. The 5 story escalator was an experience in itself.

When I received the car, the fuel tank was only 3/4 full. I was told by the guy at the exit to take a photo and show it to the staff upon my return and AVIS will reimburse me if i fill the tank up. I did just that, fill it up upon returning the car, i told the lady at the rental return and she didn’t even take a look at the photo i wanted to show her and she says everything will be taken care of and it will be reimbursed for the difference. I received my charges but no reimbursement. Although it not a big amount for the gas but felt cheated. Not very professional I have contacted AVIS with the contact and case number given after they responded to this review and i was very surprised that they actually did a quick reverse charge to my credit card for the issue mentioned. To be fair to AVIS, i came in here to amend my review to 5 stars based on their quick and sincere response and action. Appreciate Vee from AVIS customer service for your impressive Service!

This is the longest I have ever waited to pickup a rental. Pickup time was at 10am, didn't get car until after 11am. The line was extremely long so be ready to wait. Plus, the shuttle from the airport is at least a 10-15 minute drive to Avis.

Be prepared for a long wait at Avis. There was a long line for registration and another for car pickup — it took nearly 2 hours altogether. But when car return Very convenient location for returning the car — clean toilets and an easy shuttle bus ride to the terminal. Excellent service, especially from this staff member who was very mindful, helpful, and assisted with my luggage while giving clear directions for first-time visitors.
