I am a tenant in a unit managed by Strategic Growth Real Estate. My experience with them has been pretty consistently awful. They are unresponsive to repair and other requests. They do not return phones calls. They text you to take some action and then ignore you responses and questions. If I were an owner, I would stay away from this firm as they could wind up costing you a lot of money.

I’ve been a tenant at this property for a while now, and unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing. Despite multiple calls and maintenance requests, the management company — Strategic Growth Real Estate — has failed to address several serious, ongoing issues in the building. Oven: My oven turns on but shuts off after about half an hour of use, making it impossible to cook properly. When maintenance finally came to check, they dismissed my concerns and claimed it was working fine, which is not true. AC: The air conditioning outlet in my unit isn’t working, and there’s even a bird nest inside the AC. Despite reporting this, no action has been taken to clean it or restore the outlet. Hall Light: The hallway light has been out since the property changed ownership. Both the previous and current owners have failed to resolve it, leaving tenants with unsafe, poorly lit conditions. Laundry Room: One of the washing machines has been full of dirty water for over a month. It hasn’t been drained or repaired. This creates not only an unsanitary environment but also a serious environmental hazard — standing water can attract pests and lead to mold or mosquito infestations. Common Areas: The halls and stairs are dusty, full of spider webs, and never cleaned by management. Elderly tenants are the ones sweeping and tidying because no one else will. This is not only wrong, it’s dangerous. The owner is legally responsible for maintaining these areas, but clearly chooses not to. Responsiveness: Strategic Growth does not return phone calls. Maintenance requests are routinely ignored. When someone does respond, it’s usually with a dismissive attitude or false assurances that the issue has been resolved. Rent Increases: Every year, without fail, rent increases by about 8%. There’s no justification for this when services are declining and basic standards of habitability are not being met. --- Final Thoughts: Under California law, landlords are required to provide a safe, clean, and livable environment — including properly maintained appliances, functional AC, safe lighting, and clean common areas. This company has failed on all fronts. If you’re considering renting from Strategic Growth Real Estate, I urge you to look elsewhere. My next steps include reporting these violations to the Health Department, Housing Authorities, and possibly the property owner directly. This isn’t just about me — it’s about my elderly neighbors, families, and every tenant who’s being ignored while their rent keeps rising. We all deserve better. Property- 1355 Hilda Ave. Updated Review: I live on the 2nd floor and have been reporting leaks in this unit every time it rains since March 2024. The apartment has already tested positive for mold, and the issue remains unresolved. The new ownership and management have been notified multiple times, yet nothing has been done to properly fix the leaks. I had to report this property to the Better Business Bureau, and only after that did they fix the AC — but the roof leaks, exterior maintenance, and my stove issue are still ignored. This company does not care about tenant safety or property conditions, and I’m sharing this so others know what they’re getting into. .

We rented with strategic for over 2 years and they were the worse. They would cancel work orders or leave them open for months unresolved. The washers and dryers in the common area would always break down and it would take months for them to be repaired. There were times when we had to take time off work in order for their techs to show up to our unit to "fix" issues, but nobody would show up. This occurred multiple times. We decided to leave our unit after they decided to raise our rent by a ridiculous amount in back to back years after we attempted to negotiate a better rate in the second year of the rent increase. We liked the area that we lived at, but they were unresponsive and unprofessional throughout our tenancy. When we informed them that we were moving out, we found out they did not have a copy of our lease agreement and they had no idea what our security deposit amount was. The whole move out process with them was a complete disaster. They ended up sending our security deposit to the unit we vacated because they stated "we did not have a forward address on file", but it is a requirement to enter our forwarding address with our 30 day notice. We had no access to that mailbox anymore and they of course tried blaming us. The property manager would try to belittle me by telling me I didn't know what I was talking about and that "they've been dealing with rentals for years," but they clearly broke the law by not sending the check to the correct address within the 21 day window that is required in CA. This is only one thing amongst other laws that they broke. I can describe so many other issues that occurred, but I'm so glad I don't have to deal with this company anymore. I hope nobody else has to deal with this company tbh.

The more I live on a property managed by Strategic Growth, I become increasingly disappointed. Their communication style is inadequate and attention to maintenance requests is frustrating. I will update this review as I gain further experience. However, renters, beware of property managed by Strategic Growth.
