The car attendant is superb in both duties and friendliness. My experience in the dining car has been well above my expectations concerning meals, service, and atmosphere. Amazed at what they do, all while on a moving train! The Conductors and staff are all very knowledgeable, safety-conscious, and professional, while maintaining a positive attitude and good sense of humor.

Arrived here from Chicago and picked up our car. Only $8 a night to park here. A week earlier we dropped off the car and took the Flyaway bus to LAX, flew to Chicago amd took the Southwest Chief back to Union Station in Los Angeles. So much fun. We stayed in a family bedroom sleeper. Highly recommend the experience.

I love Amtrak. But with any customer service maned experience you are going to have that one person that really should find another job. I went from WA state to San Francisco had an amazing journey. On my next leg I rode the south west chief. In coach they have an amazing deal called the rail pass check into it for long trips with multiple stops. Unfortunately on this train from Los Angeles to Albuquerque I had a conductor that was very unrespectful to women. I tried getting past him on multiple occasions while he was going over paperwork standing in the isle instead of moving so I could pass into the seat area with his work I had to squeeze past him. At the very first stop to pick up and drop off I was curled up in the seat I had nobody sitting there so I used it. He came by and actually pushed my feet off the seat and told me someone was going to be sitting there. While right across from me was a male doing the same thing. Nothing said to him. I never once in my trip had anyone take the seat next to me. James you need a new job. The rest of the trip has been amazing. Still get to go to Rhode Island for my daughter's wedding in a few days. Then back home WA state. So I say across the United States and back for $500. Is great
