Went here the past weekend for Brunch with some friends and let me just say wow! Food was amazing our lovely server Johnny was so kind and helped us first timers decide on what to eat. I got the eggs Benedict and they were so delicious came with potatoes and a salad, while my boyfriend got the banana French toast (I believe that's what it's called) and oh my goodness! So sweet but do satisfying! I could not have had a better experience. I love the location of this place and the ambient is great, I will definitely be returning and recommending it to everyone!

Service, cocktails, cuisine, dessert, and coffee is something you can't miss. You see the cooks doing their magic, you see servers caring for their customers and others, and you see the quality of food and people making music. One of my top places now.

Since my last time here I've returned and was impressed. I still find the menu to be somewhat hit or miss depending on what is ordered, but the good stuff is great. It's funny to read my old review talking about how Papapavlo's looked so much better than the old Stockton Joes back around 2010, because now it's Papapavlo's that's looking worn and needs some renovation done. Recommended: Goat Cheese Savory Pancake: I don't see it on the current menu, but it was a treat when I had it. Super moist, yet with the sponginess expected of a pancake. Mushroom Pizza: The pizzas here are hit or miss. The meaty pizzas I have found to be greasy and soggy, but the mushroom pizza was excellent and definitely had me wanting to come back for it. Eggs Benedict: Very tasty and satisfying. Kind of expensive but hey I didn't go to Market Tavern for cheap. Di Stefano Burrata Appetizer: This isn't something I order often but wow this is a great preparation. Lots of nuttiness from the bread and the pine nuts, complemented by the creaminess of the cheese and some olive oil. Less impressive: Gordito Pizza: Was very greasy and soggy on the day I went. The rule with pizza here, based on my experience, is the simpler and less fatty the toppings, the better. Mary's Chicken Karaage: Wasn't impressed, seasoning was spotty and bites were either unseasoned or completely salty. All in all, definitely the place to go in Stockton now and it's where I take my out of town friends now when I want to impress.

We had dined here three or four times when Market Tavern first opened and had problems with both service and food. What a difference a few years makes!! We tried it again tonight because we had a gift card and we were pleasantly surprised. Service was very tight and attentive. We were seated in the bar at a great high-top with no reservations and received excellent service. We had an experienced server who was knowledgeable and quick with our drinks. Even the bartender, who was busy with a full bar, came over to ask if we needed more wine. I was impressed because at the end of the day -- good service always trumps food. That being said, our food was delicious! We love our anchovies and was easily accommodated on our Caesar salads and pizza. The lasagna had a rich tomato sauce and my wild mushroom pizza was wildly delicious. The restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night and I can see why. We will be back soon!!!

I was so happy to have found this place through yelp reviews. This is now a go to dinner spot when I'm in Stockton. The restaurant is located in a medium size shopping center with lots of parking (plus). I reserved my table on the Opentable app for 10pm and the hostess was nice enough to call and let me know that even though the restaurant closes at 10pm, they would still serve my table. What a win! I showed up at 940pm for Dinner (party of 4) and the service was superb. The waiter was super friendly and very patient with us. They did not rush us at all. I ordered a minestrone soup to start and the king salmon for dinner. The food was amazingly delicious. The salmon was cooked to a medium in the middle with lentils, corn, mashed potatoes, sun dried tomatoes, and pumpkin seeds dipped in a sauce made from squash. We really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely come back again this month.

Second time here. Brought my parents who were in town visiting. Considering that they are very picky about their food. They had no complaints whatsoever. Food is amazing and delicious and drinks are on point. Will definitely keep coming back. Quite possibly one of my favorite restaurants to come to for good food and drinks. Will continue to be back.

Came for lunch on a weekday, and the place was rather quiet, with the tables in the bar area busy but the main dining area empty. We decided to sit outside, and the staff was nice enough to light a propane heater to keep us warm. Our drink orders were promptly taken, and we all decided on mixed drinks from the beautiful and well stocked bar. It was just one of those days . . . I had a Long Island iced tea, and it was delightful! For food we ordered a variety of entrees, and a couple of appetizers. For the appetizers we tried the griddled cornbread (I've had previously, new to the others) with calabrian chili-honey butter, and the chickpea fries, with a side of basil mayo (new to all of us). For main entrees, we tried the "Impossible" burger (with shredded iceberg, oven roasted tomato, onion, vegan pimento cheese, on an herb foccacia) with a side of house made tomato soup; two "Painted Hills" burgers, one with an added egg and another with added egg and bacon (!); braised short ribs ( Painted Hills all natural beef 'Red Flint' polenta, smoked escarole, hazelnuts, and a celery heart salsa verde); and a quinoa and arugula salad, with an added side of steak. The appetizers arrived shortly and were a nice treat. The chickpea fries were very good, and large! They were lightly breaded and fried and more or less held their consistency - unless dipped too hard! The basil mayo was very nice with them, and next time we'll ask for extra. The griddled cornbread, which I had before, was enjoyed by all. Three moist pieces of cornbread were sweet enough, but when given a thick layer of the chili-honey butter it was divine. The butter had a slight amount of bite in the chili, but it was perfect with the sweetness of the honey butter and I think I had more butter than cornbread in some bites! The main entrees, we soon realized, was delayed quite a while for reasons we had no awareness of until one of the staff, Andrew, came to your table. He explained that orders were being delayed due to a computer glitch; we weren't even too concerned when he spontaneously mentioned that he had comped the appetizers to counter the delay in food. This was unexpected and good to hear - not only for the "free" food but more so because it shows a proactive and customer oriented ethic in the restaurant and staff. Many places probably wouldn't even have mentioned the delay, let alone taken a positive step to smooth over any concerns we may have had. The food did arrive and it was beautifully presented! Most dishes were delicious, for their own reasons - but before we get that far, let me share the one dish that was below expectations - the "Impossible" burger. The latest thing in vegetarian/vegan fare is the "meatless" trend for burgers, in which the "Impossible" patty seems to have supplanted Garden Burgers and Boca burgers. Too bad, in my opinion, for I have tried several of these Impossible burgers at various restaurants, and now I am sure that if I order another one I will end up with a flat, dry patty. The Garden and Boca are superior in that sense for taste and texture, but the standard for Impossible burgers is the one I first had when the company was just introducing its product. That burger was fat, juicy, turned gray when cooked (leaving a pink middle, with juices coming out!) and was amazing. The latest Impossible burgers basically are, ummm - nonsense! I can't ding the restaurant for that, in that I have these in several places and apparently it's the Impossible burger du jour - and now I am aware of this and will order more carefully in the future. However, if you're still reading (sorry for the rant!) I can suggest two things to immediately improve this burger: first, switch the roll to the one used on the other burgers - a dry roll (which I find ciabatta to be) with a dry burger is not good; second, allow an add of real cheese - that vegan stuff just doesn't melt/taste/cover a burger anything like real cheese. Not all of us are vegetarians, fewer still are vegans, so real cheese would be a popular upgrade. The tomato soup was a saving moment in my meal, being thick, tasty and what hearty comfort food ought to be. Moving on, the REAL burgers were fantastic! The burgers were cooked nicely, and the added eggs were beautiful to look at, especially when popped and the bright yellow yolk coated the burger. Wow. I had never seen eggs on burgers before, but wish I had one on the Impossible burger! The salad was fresh and nice looking, with assorted spring lettuces nestled on a mattress of quinoa, secured with a drizzle and sesame seeds and cracked peppers. The added steak was quite rare, and very juicy - a great protein add for this salad. The service was great throughout the meal, and even though we were the only ones outside, we never felt abandoned. Market Tavern has been a favorite for us and will continue to be, as long as the computer lets the food keep coming!

This place had wonderful food and a wonderful atmosphere; however everything was quite slow. Aside from the fact that we didn't want to go outside because of the weather, we waited a long time to get our food and waited a while to get our dessert too when there weren't even that many people in the restaurant anymore. Our waitress was very sweet, though. Like I said, the food was very good. I would recommend this place due to the food they have, but if you don't plan to sit and wait then I would go somewhere else!

Wow- what a great restaurant! Very impressed with both the food and the staff! I'm from the South Bay Area and I've never been to Stockton before- can't really say that I'd intentionally come out here for recreation, but my coworker and I had to come out this way for a work trip. We really struggled with venturing out to find a good restaurant, given that a lot of the city is pretty run down. But so glad we did some research to find a better part of town with this awesome place to eat! We ordered the skirt steak and the braised short ribs, to split, since we couldn't decide on what to order. Our waitress, Emily, was super nice! She was enthusiastic, answered all of our questions and gave us her opinions on the dishes we ordered. The food came out quickly and was VERY good! (See pictures) Emily was all smiles the entire time- actually everyone that walked by our table was super nice and helpful. A great dining experience all around. After dinner my coworker and I walked over to the Market Bar (part of the restaurant that has prepackaged food) and grabbed a salad for lunch for our second day of work. We both wanted Cesar, but sadly they only had one prepackaged to go. There was a sweet girl at the register, who we asked if they had anymore prepackaged Cesar's in the back. She said no, but yelled over to a cook on the other side of the bar to ask how long it would take to make another, and without hesitation he said just a few minutes. Nice kid, named Alejandro- again, all smiles from both him and the girl, Maria, at the register. I don't usually post long reviews, but it's been a LONG time since I've been this impressed by service. Working in the service industry myself, I'm always a little critical of service I've been given. This place exceeded my expectations. Great job to Emily, Maria and Alejandro! Market Bar and Grill definitely has my business the next time I'm in town and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone else who's looking for good food and great service!

Well my two Son's brought me here on Mother's Day for a SURPRISE. It was a nice restaurant and everyone's food looked really good. I normally know where we are going and make up my mind of what I want before I get there... I ordered the wrong food this time! I ordered salmon and didn't notice it said over a bed of peas, mushrooms and baby potatoes... Peas are one of my worst veggies of choice. The salmon was very bland The Server was really nice and did an OUTSTANDING job...wish I remembered her name... Next time I will hope to know what to order and I think it would have ordered the flank steak from the reviews I have read...

I have had the pleasure to partake in the culinary experience at Market Tavern for the past year, and each time I try a new dish I enjoy the journey. This is a place to have, and appetizer, to enbibe in a hand crafted drink, to dive into an amazing entree, only to be joyfully delighted in their desserts. From start to finish an all around great meal. Enjoy your dinner conversation as the timing of the food is carefully balanced because of the care they take to prepare your meal. Drinks created here are an adventure of their own making. Great food, atmosphere, and service. I'll continue to come back again and again.

Nice atmosphere, nice location, and our server was very friendly and attentive. However, the menu has very limited choices and the food is very bland. My husband and I stopped by for our first time and weren't impressed by the "ribs". Seemed more like barbacoa and it was crazy over priced for the small amount that they actually give you. We stuck around and had their honey chipotle shrimp appetizer , Which was good! but we ended up leaving. Modern restaurant with nice staff, ehhh whatever type of food.:)

I read the reviews here which was really high so I had to try. I loved the atmosphere and the lighting was dim so it really creates a chill vibe. I'm only giving 3 stars since the food was just alright. Usually I don't add ketchup to my food, but the Kabob wrap was not what I expected. I honestly was hoping for some tastier lamb, but this tasted like over seasoned Chorizo. The Mac 'N Cheese was okay, but the prices didn't meet the expectation. I'd come back though, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

This is our favorite place. Oh so favorite place. In contemplating moving to another city or staying put... Market Tavern is a weighted factor. Real food, good food. Great servers. Follow their FB page for their specials.... oh the specials. And there mixed drinks. Some of them sound odd... trust the bartender. She knows what she's doing. Some of the things I would normally steer away from have been game changers. Everything this restaurant touches turns to deliciousness.

We ordered the pizza. Two different kinds. The mushroom one and the sausage. Both were good but you must be a huge mushroom fan to enjoy the mushroom one. It is also lightly plainer then the sausage. The service was fine. We would have have probably bought more but the server was not really encouraging to try new things. The manager Andrew was very nice and respectful. He was very attentive to our five year old. The restaurant can get quit noisy so do not expect quiet.

I've been here a few times. The food is ok, but I didn't find it exceptional despite their pretensions. My view may be tainted because they kicked out Saintiagos Mexican restaurant, a place where I'd been eating for thirty years, so they could put in this 'wanna be' high end eatery.

My favorite steakhouse in town. We always go here on special occasions. But we also just go when we want a craft beer, pizza and wings. Their pizza is definitely my favorite- it's wood fired pizza and it's so good. If you're looking for small bites try the Korean chicken wings!

Market Tavern is definitely a move for anyone who wants to have a more "formal" meal while staying in Stockton. Delicious food and a classy ambiance, my visits to Market Tavern have always been for some sort of event - a celebration, special brunch, or graduation. If you found yourself here craving alcohol, check out their bloody mary - it was an absolute STEAL when I visited. A bit too formal for my average night out in Stockton but I definitely like having the choice.

My first experience at Market Tavern...Staff and the Chef knocked it out of the park! Started off with a drink that I never had before...Smoked Old Fashion...not for the weary had to sip but it was made good. We had Mac and Cheese for the appetizer, the cheese was oozing off my plate and contained chopped bacon...very tasty. For my main dish, I ordered the Wild Pacific Cod....It was so good! Five Stars Good! Served with Mashed potatoes and squash with a Lemon-Caper Butter Squash...I ate it all! The ambiance is friendly and welcoming! I highly recommend!

The food is delicious!!! A few of my gfs came here for restauarant week and a ladies night out. I had the mixed greens salad, cioppino for the main course and a chocolate tart for dessert. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is nice, more towards casual dining but you can dress up and still won't feel out of place. Nestled in the posh Lincoln Center and offering a dining experience that is not only exquisite but, uniquely crafted! Ambiance is casually elegant with an upscale feel. Decor is trendy with a touch of rustic....making it a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. The bar area is always lively and energetic! A simple yet all-appealing menu featuring American cuisine with a Contemporary twist. There's a "grab and go" market within the establishment....offering ready to go meals, fresh baked bread, salads and sandwiches, free-range premium meats, select produce, beverages and many selections of wine to pair your meal with. Make sure to grab their yummy cornbread on your way out! The complimentary bread (upon request) is such a pleasant treat! It's hard not to reach for them one after another....but don't fill up! Let's be honest, you didn't find yourself coming here to fill up on bread alone did you? Korean Chicken Wings were crazy addictive! Sweet, savory and deliciously-gooey! It was finger-lickin' good! Bone Marrow has been on my radar. I was excited to see it on the menu. The first few bites were interesting but, after which it fell flat and unappetizing. It needed to be dressed up a bit more than just a sprinkle of salt. Having said that, it wasn't a bad starter. Margherita Pizza was delightful! The thin crust was crispy and chewy. The making of the perfect pizza! We added pepperonis, sausages and mushroom....complimenting the pizza without taking away from the overall delicious flavors! Kurobuta Pork was out of this world amazing! The quality and taste is exceptional. I'd say it's the best Stockton has to offer when it comes to this specific dish. The cut of the day was a 14oz Ribeye steak with an infused butter/sauce served over mashed potato. The steak was better off without any dressing IMO. However, it was juicy and cooked perfectly. Save room for dessert because their House Made Cheesecake is delectably rich, smooth, and creamy. Every bite was heavenly! Service is always top notch! Plenty of seatings inside with a few on the patio. They also offer a private room in the back for various events per reservation. Ample parking. Always a satisfying dining experience and I highly recommend it!

The usual in Lincoln ! I am surprised that I have never reviewed this restaurant since I'm going there since they opened. I haven't had the chance to try everything as the menu is HUGE. This, you'll always find something of your taste of the day ! From pizza, to rotisserie, to steak, etc... Huge selection of wine, beer (on tap, or bottled) and spiritueux. People there are always smiling, trying to accommodate you the best they can. The atmosphere stays warm, even if the restaurant (divided in different section) is huge. It can be a little loud, but not more than expected for the kind of restaurant. That's what I call a great gastro pub !

Stopped by for dinner on our way home from Tahoe because our friend told us her son is a sous chef at Market Tavern. (Unfortunately it was his night off!) We ordered the Mary's Korean-style chicken wings to start which were crispy and perfectly flavored with a sweet and salty Korean BBQ sauce. The house-made Kim Chee was very authentic and not too spicy and the garlic dipping sauce blended with the wings very well. Our second course was the spinach salad that had fresh peach slices, pine nuts and feta. The dressing was light and really melded the flavors without overpowering them. We shared the mushroom & spinach pizza and I think there were at least 3 kinds of mushrooms on top (straw, button and maybe baby bellas) with plenty of fresh spinach and cheese on a creamy white garlic sauce. The thin crust was very good, but a bit soggy in the middle so you had to eat the first half of each slice with a knife and fork. When our server brought the dessert menu, we were so sad that we had no more room for dessert, but the offerings were plentiful and enticing enough for us to want to make another trip to Market Tavern as soon as we travel this way again! (Thinking about fresh Meyer lemon meringue pie or "The Elvis" peanutbutter, chocolate and bananas.)

Simple done right. I'm a very simple or what the generation now calls it basic guy. This was my first time here and I got a brunch meal which was some scrambled eggs with potatoes and bacon with toasted bread on the side. I was even hesitate on how the eggs are going to taste because I'm picky on how I like them but they were fantastic! Everything was wonderfully set up. The service was really nice always coming up asking if everything is going good. Also the environment was built nicely as well I would definetely go here again whenever I'm in town. Changing this 5 stars and also another tasty item I got on the menu which was the Salmon "BLT" I feel like this place doesn't disappoint whenever I'm here. When I had this placed on my table I kid you not my mouth was watering. I recommend this!

One of the best dinning experience you can find in Stockton! Casual but classy ambience, attentive service, and delicious food, though the food is on the pricey side. I would come here for special occasions and business meetings as well. I highly recommend the pork chop.

One of the best dinning experience in Stockton for sure! This place deserves 4.5 stars in my book! It has a casual but classy ambiance, very attentive service (untensils get changed after each course and drinks refilled in 5 minutes if they are not too busy). Though the price is on the pricey side, the entire experience is totally worth it! Food - great presentation and excellent taste. Here are some recommendations: 1) Pork Chop with Apple Glaze with a side of polenta and bacon brussel sprouts (5 stars, $29) - the prom chop is huge and thick (close to 1.5 inches), the apple glaze is the perfect balance of sweet and savory. This was by far my favorite entree 2) Short ribs with polenta and braised collard greens (3.5 stars, $22/$32 small/large) - short ribs came without bones, super tender and juicy (you don't get a knife because you don't need it). However, it wasn't as flavorful as the pork chop. The collard greens had a strong smokey taste, which I personally appreciate 3) Hummus with pickled radish and pita - good Hummus, soft and fluffy pita bread 4) Thai style brussel sprouts - cripsy brussel sprout with this garlic ginger dip which gave it a Thai twist - a good and somewhat healthy appetizer/side to share 5) Walnut glazed donut tossed in cinnamon sugar - fluffy donut with just the right amount of sweetness. One portion comes with 2 decent sized donut, enough to share between 4-6 people Tip: 1) Make a reservation ahead of time, especially for party larger than 4 (even for weekday lunch) 2) There's a to-go part on the right when you enter the restaurant. Lots of options such as sandwiches, salads, and desserts of course!

I really really love the food at Market Tavern and would give it 5 stars.... but the service is so inconsistent that I can't. Last week we went here for a friend's birthday but our waitress was so bad that I just didn't want to be there anymore. Whenever we asked her a question or said anything to her, her replies were dull if she responded.... IF! She didn't even seem to be listening to half the things we were saying and just seemed annoyed with us. I went another time with my family for my Dad's birthday and the service was bad too. It took a while for our order to even be placed and to get attention from a waitress. There has really only been one server me and my boyfriend always hope to get and we love her. We saw her working when we went last week hoping we'd get her because she's super sweet but she was with other tables instead. To the waitress working at both prime table and market tavern, you are awesome! As for the food... ITS AMAZING! Furikake fries, Mac and cheese, corn bread, skirt steak, ribeye, and anything on the specials menu... so good! Recently had the paella con carne special and it was delicious. Miss the prime rib special for 2 but haven't seen it for a while! Always coming back for food despite the bad service I've been having here.

I think I may have dined here long ago...restaurant ambiance is great for all occasions...lunch with friends, date night, anniversary celebrations, birthdays, etc...I'm not a fish person at all but I'm trying to open my palate to new things...I tried their fish tacos. Presentation was nice. Tortillas, salsa and cabbage was all fresh. Sauce was good. The fish was very fresh. Not fishy at all. They use cod. The only thing I'd say is they rely on the flavors of the fixings and not so much on the fish itself. They fry the fish but it doesn't taste seasoned. Other than that it was a good dish. I would order it again. I'm Looking forward to trying some other items they have.

One of my favorite restaurants when I visit Stockton. Chef Nicholas diArenzo and restaurateur Phillip Wong met 8 years ago while Nick was the Chef de Cuisine at one of San Francisco's most iconic restaurants, Moose's. Phil Wong purchased the restaurant from Ed Moose and became friends with Chef Nick. You can make it a full meal by just eating and sharing the appetizers. For one meal, we did just that. We tried the Devil "ish" eggs & bacon, the corn beef tongued tacos, the furikake fries, the wood grilled octopus, and the Korean Fried chicken wings. ALL DELICIOUS!!! Another time I had the beef stroganoff, fresh buttered noodles, herbed sour cream, mushrooms, onions. WOW! Awesome! Full bar! Great service.

Made reservations online via the open table site for brunch on Saturday at 1115 because the reviews said it gets busy, there was hardly anyone there and a ton of tables, but hey it didn't hurt. We got a table in the back of the restaurant. It's kinda dark in here, only windows in the front of restaurant so not a lot of sunlight can get in. We ordered mimosas and donuts to start. Lady should have told us about buying a bottle of champagne vs buying them individually, we would have gotten more for our money but whatever. Mimosas each are $8, buying the bottle $25 and comes with side of orange juice. Donuts came out fresh and warm, with a side of strawberry purée. Absolutely fantastic!!! Only 2 come per order and we were able to share. For my meal I ordered the short rib poutine. Looks small but so filling. I definitely loved it and would get it again and again. The only downfall was there was very minimal short rib, I was imagining lots of meat. Luckily I got a side of bacon. Overall, service was quick and friendly, food was delicious, and the place was clean. Will definitely come back for dinner.
