I initially agreed to move forward with advertising services for the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC area and paid $880 based on the pricing and scope that were explained upfront. Shortly after payment, I was informed that the pricing had changed and that the total cost would now be $1,200, which was unexpected. Later, Lindsay — the representative I worked with — explained that since I had already paid $880, I would only need to pay an additional $120, bringing the total to approximately $1,000 for now. I want to be clear that Lindsay was professional, responsive, and helpful, and I appreciate her efforts to communicate and clarify the situation. However, the overall experience was disappointing due to the company’s pricing policies and internal handling. We spent nearly two weeks waiting for integration and activation, and during that time the pricing changed after payment and onboarding had already begun. This lack of pricing transparency and coordination caused unnecessary delays and frustration. As a business owner, clear communication, consistency, and trust are critical. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations. I would recommend DC Local improve pricing accuracy, internal coordination, and upfront communication before charging clients and initiating integrations.

Misrepresentation, poor lead quality, and broken refund promise I signed up with eLocal based on repeated claims that they provide exclusive, pre-screened, legitimate leads, that I would control call timing and service types, and that the $300 deposit was fully refundable at any time if the service wasn’t a fit. In practice, nearly everything promised was false or misleading: • I received calls for services I do not offer, including furniture assembly. • Calls came from people who were only shopping for the cheapest price, not serious customers interested in quality or professionalism—directly contradicting claims that leads were vetted and “ready to book.” • The calls did not respect the operating hours I clearly provided (9–5 on specific weekdays). • If your business uses a phone tree or call screening, and callers hang up, eLocal blames you and still treats the call as valid, even though they previously stated non-viable calls would not be charged. • Multiple calls disconnected immediately, and credits were denied despite earlier assurances. • There is no way to withdraw funds yourself through their website, despite being told you could. You must ask a representative to process a refund, and they may not fully honor it. • I was explicitly told on a recorded call that my entire $300 deposit would be refunded when I cancelled. Despite that promise, eLocal only refunded $145, less than half of what I paid, and then closed the account. I had to follow up to demand the remainder. When I calmly raised these issues, the representative became unprofessional and argumentative, blamed my business for their lead failures, and ultimately hung up on me mid-conversation. The only real people I ever spoke with through this service were price-shoppers with no intent to hire professionally. The sales pitch does not match the reality of what you receive, and the refund policy is not honored as advertised. I would not recommend this company to any contractor who values transparency or professionalism.

This is a complete scam don’t use this service ever, they will take your money.. they call from a number that is flagged as a scam so if it goes directly to voice mail they charge you the scam call. I am totally convinced they set companies up . Potential customers use a goggle search engine they click on a phone icon and Elocal routes the call to your phone which may go directly to voicemail, so if your phone redirects scam calls to voicemail, Elocal acts like that to a a legit lead, also 99 percent of the calls I received were NOT for my company or the people were even remotely looking for the service I provided. Don’t do it there refund policy is only in effect for 4 days, Julie is a representative and will call you and tell you how successful they are but none of the call pertain to my business. Cut them off I had them for 1 week and this is worse experience I have had yet!!! I want my money back !!!! Stay away from this service!!!

Tried out this lead service after being called blindly to set up. It all sounded good how the leads were screened and only get leads pertaining to services offered. Also how you wouldn't have to pay for poor leads. Well after a few short weeks I figured out the leads weren't any good and no refunds were issued. The rep acted like I was never denied a refund and wouldn't give any. I was gett8ng leads for services I didn't 9ffer and after the hours I set up. When trying to cancel I got the run around and it was immediate. Lesson learned.
