Mostly I'm all about the positive but I feel the need to warn of a terrible business experience. Dex Media took over the online yellow pages in our area and service immediately deteriorated. After a year with them I decided not to renew. I carefully read our agreement, saw that advance written notice was required, and wrote to them to say I did not wish to renew. I followed up with a telephone call to make sure they had received the cancellation and was assured that they had. The second month following the cancellation they pulled the former monthly fee from my account. So far I have had three long telephone calls, during each of which they acknowledged their mistake... but made excuses, stalled, and have not returned the money. My sense is that a company that does such a bad job - in fact, it borders on dishonest - with a simple refund is not someone to do business with.

This company is very bait and switch. We signed up for their Yellow Page ad and On Line YP service. They billed us in a confusing manner, giving us one invoice for the monthly yellow page print ad in the phone book and one invoice for the On Line that was billed by the number of clicks. UPON RENEWAL time, I was contacted by their renewal rep whose job it is to get you to sign up for another year. I requested that they blend our account and give us one invoice per month. My renewal rep took care of that for me, BUT, I was billed an exhorbitant amount (the entire annual contract amount vs. monthly). He told me he'd take care of it and call me the following week when he returned from vacation. I never heard from him again and called and emailed him several times with no response (the renewal date passed). Also noteworthy is that I set this account up for payment via an auto draft from our checking account since it was repetitive and as I do with our insurance and utility accounts. The auto drafts stopped. Obviously because I did not sign any renewal paperwork so they had no legal authorization to continue the auto draft. The next thing I know, I'm getting collection calls for the full balance! They have no signed renewal. It's evident they don't start their "renewal calls" early enough because they just print up the next year's phone books - AND SEND YOU TO COLLECTIONS IF YOU DO NOT PAY. Then the hardball collections people who are about 1 step below con artists - call telling you that all contracts auto-renew. That's a lie. They pursued me to sign renewal paperwork and without that, they had no legal right to continue with the auto-drafts. Otherwise, our account would not have gone into past due and collections.
