I spent about two and a half hours in the courtroom. One of the staff members was particularly nice; he was very conscientious, humorous, and friendly. I don't know his name. He was responsible for telling us where to sit, distributing flags and flyers, and handling other tasks. Everything was very well-organized, and I wasn't nervous at all. Regarding the rule about turning off cell phones during the oath ceremony, I think it's perfectly reasonable. The reason is that during a solemn oath ceremony, cell phones could be disruptive and could also prevent unauthorized filming. During the ceremony, we should be fully focused, as this is a very important event in our lives. The judge's words were also very inspiring. The court staff also congratulated me on becoming a citizen.

Reviewing oath ceremony experience. Beautiful building, sad you can't take photos. Take out all electronics including smartwatch and hand to security. Concession stand on first floor to your left past security. Oath takers will go on the 2nd floor and guests on the 3rd. There's a wonderful library on the 3rd floor so you can sit there for a while. If you're bringing kids, bring toys, there is quite a bit of open space outside the seating area so my kid just ran around there for a while. We got in a bit before 8a and put at close to 11a. The processing took 1 hour and some, but waiting for the judge took another hour. Such a disgrace, making people wait like that. Queens LIC people come in and leave within the hour. The oath ceremony is such a momentus event. People go though many struggles just to get to that point and not being able to record that is a shame.

Came here for the oath ceremony for Naturalization. The whole process took ~3.5 hrs. Right at the entrance they take away phones, smart watches and headphones, so make sure to bring a book or other type of entertainment while you wait. Water is allowed inside, no photos. Bring black pen and multiple copies of application (in case you filled it out wrong, officer will advice what to write). They will take away all you Green Cards/Work Permit (even expired).

My oath ceremony for citizenship was on May 22nd 2025. 8AM. Your relatives can attend the ceremony if you wish. They take away phones, so there are no pictures inside the building. The relatives or interpreters who come with you will wait separately on the 3rd floor cafeteria. They can watch the courtroom in live television so they can see what's happening inside. I found it very nice !!! In the courtroom, they are checking documents one by one, so that takes the most time (about 2 hours). After that, when everything is ready for the actual ceremony, they let your relatives join. Gives you a little bathroom brake before, but you can go and use the bathroom anytime. The ceremony is about 30-45 minutes. The judge makes a speech and reads all the countries present loudly and you have to make some noise when you hear yours! It was 116 new citizens from 53 countries that day. In the end, they read your name lloud and handed your new certificate. They are asking and taking away for good your green cards and work permits, but if you forget one ( i had multiple expired ones), no big deal. You keep it as souvenir:) The whole process took about 3-3:30 hours . If you late still let you in. Someone was one week early for the naturalization ??? And they sent that person back home ! Congratulations, everyone!

I took the solemn and emotional oath of citizenship here yesterday .the appointment is at 8:00, please come early, I think I went into the courthouse at 7:38.The swearing-in ceremony takes about three hours. You can bring a book in because your phone will be taken away. The staff here are very friendly to me. Remember to wear a coat it's not very warm inside. If you haven't changed any of your personal information the interview process will be quick .we didn't sing the national anthem this time. It's not hard. The waiting is boring but the result is an experience you'll never forget. Is that right? Finally, congratulations on becoming an American citizen my friends!
