I am exceedingly thrilled at the opportunity I told you about. It surpasses my wildest dreams and I sincerely feel like I have SEO and in particular, YOU, Joe, to thank and praise for my successful career campaign in getting to back to Austin. Having worked on trying to find a job in Austin for several months on my own. I had a lot of doubts. However, once I teamed with SEO, it happened for me in about 2 months. While during the first month, I remained hopeful but hesitant, I realize now what an amazing goal we accomplished together and how much appreciation I feel. I will never forget your organization and would recommend them, and YOU in particular, to anyone I know seeking a similar endeavor. Thank you so much!

I’m happy to write this 5-star review. The smartest step that I took when I was furloughed a few months ago was contacting SEO and retaining them to assist me in securing a new position. I had been trying to get back into the Aerospace field, with no luck. I was a little more mature than most of the folks I had been working with, and was afraid SEO might think I was too old. Mr. Johnson told me no; they would be glad to have me as a client. He told me I would be working with Mike Shumaker. After we had our first meeting, I knew Mike understood. Like him, I was also a former Marine. We spoke the same language and had the same work ethic. He turned out to be a great career adviser. If you are serious about getting back to work, do not try to go it alone. This is going to help me until I decide to retire. My personal thoughts are, regardless of age, if you apply yourself 101% to the job search program and career development objective outlined by SEO, you will be satisfied with the outcome and reach your objective. Thanks, Mike, for your help, and you, Joe, for taking me on as a client.

You ask that I share my experience, so here we go. Two weeks ago, I succeeded, through the help of SEO, to secure the position of Chief Strategy Officer of a phase two internet/technology company focusing on the new AI division. We specialize in the medical technology field. I start my position on the first of November, and needless to say, I’m excited. My sincere thanks to you, Joe, and your staff. Without a doubt, you guys were the principal factor in my getting this opportunity. Your networking abilities and insight are the best I’ve encountered in my 30 years of experience. The Career Advantage program you have put together and the one-on-one attention make all the difference. Once again, I want to thank you.

I’ve read some of these impressive reviews, and it made me want to share my story because it was a little different. Joe Johnson and his staff at SEO helped me do what I was beginning to think was impossible: to land a decent job, fresh out of college. Not just a job, but what I think will turn into a Career. I thought his company only worked with executives. He explained that I would not be a normal client, but he felt like they could help if I was willing to listen, do what was required, and follow the process. I might be a challenge, but they were willing to give it a shot. I recently completed the Finance program at the University of Oklahoma, graduating near the top of my class. In the months leading up to graduation, I started feeling worried about my job prospects. If you spend any amount of time online, you'll find at least one story about how difficult it is to land a job these days, especially for new graduates. When I shared my concerns with my advisors, they assured me that I wouldn't have a problem finding work. I had good grades, the right skills, and would soon have a degree that would, in theory, make me an easy hire. And they weren't wrong. In theory, I might've been an easy hire, once upon a time. But once I had my degree in hand and made the first step into my professional career, the job market proved to be more challenging than even they had imagined. The expectations, demands, and sometimes the behavior of the current job market revealed itself to be...difficult and frustrating. Job hunting was my full-time job. I applied to innumerable companies, heard little back, and was ghosted more than a few times. I kept being told you don’t have enough experience. Despite all that, I did manage to land a handful of interviews and even made it to the second round a couple of times. But no matter what I did, I just couldn't seem to close the deal. I was close to throwing in the towel and starting to apply for unlivable-wage jobs, scraping grease off the floor at the local diner. But, and not a moment too soon, someone close to me recommended I speak with an old friend of theirs, Joe Johnson, at SEO. Joe was sympathetic to my situation and knew well the challenges I was facing. He put me in contact with one of his Career Advisors, Mike Shunacker, who worked with me on job search strategies. They had resources I never knew were out there. I, frankly, would not have found anywhere else. They stuck by my side through the whole process. And with their guidance and support, I managed to land this position in short order. I work at a large Oklahoma financial firm in its investment division. Now, I'm happy with my job, and I feel confident about my future, thanks to the guidance I received from Joe and the SEO staff. They helped with my resume, my LinkedIn profile, my interview skills, and what made me the most uncomfortable, the negotiation part. I was a fish out of water.

So I received a call that was rather esoteric in terms of position detail, which as a former recruiter set off some red flags. Also I was given a pitch that gradually morphed from “executive search” to “career management”. This may be worthwhile to some people, but be aware that the candidate pays their fees. Normally a company pays the fee, so this is an indication that there isn’t any position in mind when you’re contacted. Also, there is no guarantee of a job in the future, so win, lose, or draw, you are paying a retainer that could be around $4,000 to $6,000 regardless of their success. They are also eager to push you to a conversation with a “Vice President”, which amounts to more pitching to close you on a contract for services. That isn’t very reassuring coupled with a somewhat misleading use of terms in their pitch. Ultimately, they aren’t marketing you to a company, which is not really what a job seeker needs. I won’t discount them, but as others have observed, the glowing reviews aren’t always authentic success stories. I chose not to engage with their solution since my background is very specific, the up front cost is not something I consider a positive when not backed by an actual client paying their fees, and no guarantees of a job based on their services. In a tough market, there are always opportunists who will use that to profit. I will not say these folks are purely opportunists or that they don’t do a good job, but the record for similar firms doesn’t hold much hope either. Be informed and make your own decision before spending your money. As a client, you want to pay for results, and My experience tells me that their structure doesn’t hold much hope for that — if you’ve already paid them, their incentive has been met.
